Feb 2010 Report President
I am submitting a short report this month.
I would like to wish a very Happy New Year to all caregivers. We hope all
caregivers had a memorable holiday season and your home was not
disrupted by the H1N1 flu bug. It is hard to believe that we are already in
February 2010 in the midst of Olympic activities.
On behalf of your Board, heartfelt condolences are offered to those
caregivers and adoptive families who, through their children, have extended
family in Haiti who have suffered during the disastrous earthquake.
Behind the scenes, your Board has been meeting on a monthly schedule.
These meetings have been held by teleconference to minimize disruption to
family schedules and, due to the fiscal climate, to mitigate the budget impact
of travel and accommodation expenses. The next face to face get together
will be in March and then at the AGM May 28th and 29th in Kelowna.
We have requested meetings with Minister Polak, Leslie DuToit, Mary Ellen
Turpel-Lafond and all the Regional Executive Directors about issues that
continue to impact caregivers throughout the province.
As always, feel free to contact your office staff for any concerns or
questions.
Sincerely,
Melanie Filiatrault
