Teleconference Summary

Treasurer’s Report
a.
The Treasurer presented his report.  There were some extra expenditure
related to the audit and moving in July, however these should rectify
themselves in August.
b.
The board agreed to put a hold on office renovations until the extra office
is rented
c.
Six more locals will be audited going forward.  The Treasurer to decide
which ones, and share the information with the office.
4.
President’s Report
a.
Upcoming meetings – going to Victoria August 18th to meet with Minister,
Rep, Medical Benefits and Education
b.
IFCO – Fantastic.  Hope to have many come to Victoria in 2011.  The cost
for food was high but the conference was good.  There were a few issues
which the committee will hopefully avoid in 2011
c.
Meetings upcoming – looking at a face to face board meeting.  Treasurer
to look at available funds prior to a decision.  BF in September

Regional Reports
a.
Vancouver – The delegate is providing a workshop at the FAFP AGM in
October

Working on a program regarding the Role of Curiosity in planning
for kids with mental health issues

Fraser – Rep absent away
c.
Interior – met with the Macro President - nothing to report.
d.
North – Still no youth coming into care. Lots of street teens.  There are
still concerns with how Ministry staff implement policy.
e.
Island – FP picnic held by FPSSS.  Article in the local newspaper re
shortage of homes.  Hopefully this will galvanize the public.
7.
BCFFPA Liaison – W.Matheson
a.
Protocol framework is almost finished.  M. Haddon has been seconded to
another position, but will be picking it up again in the next 3 or 4 months
b.
Education program revamping is still being worked on.  In the current
economic climate this will take some time to complete
c.
The President will address these and other issues with the Minister
8.
Old Business
a.
Legal Action Fund – a foster parent was assisted to get a letter written.  A
law firm matched the costs with BCFFPA.
b.
AGM 2010 in Kelowna May 28 and 29 2010.  Workshops to be decided
c.
AGM 2009 Motions being worked on.
d.
Face to Face meeting to be determined
