Minutes of February 11, 2008 accepted as written.
2.
Add Nomination to Agenda.  Final day for receipt of nominations is March 3,
2008
3.
Treasurer’s Report
a.
Financial Reports shared with Board.  Waiting for Revenue and Expenses
b.
J. Chapman will be on the Children’s Working Group for CLBC 
c.
Motion made by J. Chapman to set ED wages and benefits. carried
02/03/2008: MDC: (Jan Chapman) move to pay a $100 honorarium to an artist for “Camp
Care” rendering. carried
4.
President’s Report
a.
Print has been donated to the Federation.  Would like to amend minutes to
reflect that.  Hold until next meeting or until the individual who brought
forward the motion joins the call
b.
Idea Forum – Victoria went well.  Positive feedback was received from
those in attendance.  
c.
Meeting with Leslie du Toit – Ms du Toit asked to reschedule twice,
however the times were not convenient.  Will rebook later.
d.
Budget meeting April 9th with Wayne Matheson
e.
Provincial Partnership meeting April 9th
f.
Melanie unable to attend meetings April 17 and 18 so Insurance and
Federation info will be shared only.
5.
Regional Delegates
a.
Vancouver Coastal – There is a new local forming with ACG.  C de Best
has contacted the Richmond and Sechelt locals to work at getting them up
and running again.
b.
Fraser – Medications are still not being covered in some cases.  For
Voluntary care agreements parents are expected to cover the costs of
meds.  This has been addressed in a letter to MCFD.  He will follow up.  
Fraser is looking into starting a Macro Council.
c.
Interior – The Interior Macro Council continues to meet.  A regional
partnership meeting will be held May 21, 2008.  
The CSM has provided $4000 in funding to help off set foster parent
childcare expenses to attend the BCFFPA AGM in Kamloops.  This
money was released from the Foster Parent Retention Budget.  
There continue to be some concerns around Protocols, with stats
unavailable regarding numbers and outcomes.
If other areas want to form macros it was suggested that they call H.
Bayes.
d.
Vancouver Island – Medications still being paid for by caregivers
Reimbursement wait times are overly long for meds and other services.
Partnership Meeting on the 13th of March
6.
Ministry Liaison
a.
Rights of Foster Parents – no formal response to date.  Wayne will look
into.  The Ministry is not prepared to support legislation but would go
through a process that would see the rights entrenched in Caregiver
Support Standards or the Foster Family Handbook.  Will be discussed with
Jane Cowell April 9th.
b.
Dental Coverage – W Matheson confirmed that the policy has changed
and now white fillings are covered by dental
c.
Medication reimbursement still continues to be an issue particularly for
voluntary care agreements.  Wayne will look in to however if the worker
covers the child under Pharmacare they should have full coverage.  W.
Matheson will forward the guide to the Federation office for distribution
and posting on the BCFFPA website.
d.
Directors of Operations – Liaison will send a note to the Directors of
Operations outlining concerns.
e.
Protocol Stats – will look into how the information is collected by the
Regions.  Bring forward in April
f.
Insurance – request for increase to house and content coverage.  W.
Matheson will discuss April 9th.
7.
Executive Director
a.
A request came in to assist a foster family with legal costs in an effort to
adopt their foster child.  Federation has a history of assisting other foster
parents in the North. Send a letter stating that the matter is under
consideration.  S Davis to work on the policy development.   BF to April.  
b.
Exit Interview- Form is complete

a.
April Budget Meeting – Set for April 9, 2008
