In order to adjust our regional representation to align with the Ministry of Children and Family Development's geographic boundaries,
we are calling for nominations for Coast Fraser Region Delegate. This Delegate will represent foster
parents throughout a vast area of the Lower Mainland/Coast and those who apply should be able to network with BCFFPA Locals and
individual foster parents throughout the region.

The Maurice Graydon Bursaries, which are awarded annually, have been established for youth currently and formerly in care who wish to continue their education.
October 2011 is Foster Family Month
and is the annual
acknowledgement of the Foster Parents of British Columbia,
when we stop and think about what we do for the children and
youth and how much of ourselves we put into every one of
them.

Health Canada is recalling Life Brand Junior Strength Acetaminophen Tablets in the 160 mg bottle and Children's Strength Acetaminophen Tablets in the 80 mg bottle because the child-resistant packaging is faulty. The drugs are sold at Shoppers Drug Mart.
Changes have been made to the Criminal Record Checks for Care Providers effective
October 1, 2010.
The NEW Criminal Record Check Policy and Procedures for Caregivers will take effect and will apply
to all criminal record checks for caregivers.

Parents and caregivers want to keep their
children safe at all times, which includes
ensuring their children are sleeping in a safe
environment. There are special considerations
that all parents and caregivers should be
aware of before putting their child to sleep.

Information from MCFD. The issue has arisen regarding whether Maintenance payments paid to foster parents to cover the costs of caring for the child are income. Following is information taken from the Human Resources Policy manual which clearly shows that it is NOT to be considered income for income assistance purposes.
